GOALS, GOALS, GOALS

I attended a motivational talk given by a good friend of mine and this cartoon came to mind. I guess just like hockey we need to be looking at goal we set for ourselves. I remember 5 years ago I set a goal to do just art and I guess you could say that I SCORED!

Mouthguards

According to the Academy of General Dentistry:
•Almost one-third of all dental injuries are due to sports-related accidents;
• During a single athletic season athletes have a 10% chance of suffering a facial or dental injury;
•An athlete is 60 times more likely to sustain damage to teeth when not wearing a mouthguard;
• The total rehabilitation cost for a single knocked-out tooth are more than 20 times the cost of a quality professional mouthguard --and lifetime dental rehabilitation costs can exceed $15,000 per lost tooth.

Anger Problem?

Most games are lost because one or two players can't manage their anger.

Big

There's an old saying, "the bigger they are the harder they fall". I'm glad the game of hockey has gone back to skill and the smaller players, it makes for a much more exciting game.

Hockey on the Big Screen

Hockey on the big screen TV has made watching the game alot more exciting. I think the americans actually invented it so that they would be able to see the puck. If you can't afford the big screen here's a practical alternative.

Uniforms

I'm a big Don Cherry fan, but if he has anything to do with uniforms, it could change the LOOK of hockey.

You Write The Caption

Here's what I'm going to do, for this cartoon above, you come up with a caption and in exchange for using your caption, I will acknowledge your name and send you a copy of the cartoon that you can frame. I will be taking captions until Friday, January 25. I will choose the best caption and post it Friday. Have fun with it. Who's talking to the guy slipping on the ice, is it a team mate, a fan, the referee? You decide. Send caption in comment.

The Draft

My wife likes to watch figure skating, I enjoy watching hockey, so one day I was thinking....some of those fancy moves could come in handy in hockey.

Oh the smell of the dressing room

When you play with regular guys, the hockey bags and equipment all have a distinct odor about them. But when there's a fresh smell like cologne or detergent, it's obvious. Oh yes..... the smell of the dressing room. It's part of the game.

History of the Cup

No comment... enough said.

Nothing Like a Good Fight

This is just a suggestion for all those that think fighting doesn't have a place in hockey.

The Zamboni Driver

Ever wonder what Zamboni drivers do between games? Not to mention the hazards of the job.

The Wive's Viewpoint

Us men behave differently when we are involved in sports, this cartoon speaks volumes into that strange behaviour.

GAME ON!

I've created FACEOFF to share my view of hockey through a illustrators viewpoint. I grew up in Camrose Alberta... hockey country, where kids lived and breathed hockey. We were in league hockey, we played road hockey, pond hockey, hockey in outdoor rinks til 2:00 am in the morning under northern lights. Many Canadians share similiar memories. I don't play much other than the odd shinny game with my sons, but I still enjoy a good game on tv. My one son and I are Canucks fans and other son a Leafs fan. We get along.

I hope you enjoy the humor in my reconstructed memories of hockey... Canada's game.
